IMC Data Centers
IMC has two state-of-the-art data centers housing more than $15 million of IT equipment. The Rocket Center, West Virginia, data center contains sections for classified and customer-dedicated technology and information. The building itself is located on a secure Naval facility and is used primarily for application hosting, production conversion, storage and "Hot Site" COOP/DR. In all, it now hosts more than 40 terabytes of electronic data on Storage Area Networks, Network Accessible Storage, Tape Arrays and less expensive RAID technologies, such as ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment).
It boasts a 1000KVA power feed from two separate power paths, a 300KW Diesel Generator and two 160 KVA redundant online UPS systems to ensure uninterrupted operation. For document and data preservation, it offers a dry pipe, wet sprinkler system for fire suppression and a dedicated 40-ton redundant chiller and air handler system for computer climate control. Security is multi-level; the Naval facility is a fenced-in compound fitted with alarms, guarded by Alliant Techsystems security guards and monitored by video cameras 24x7. Visitors must sign in and out and be escorted by IMC staff while onsite. Access to the data center requires a key code and biometric hand scan.
The Cowen, West Virginia, data center is used for production conversion and "Cold Site" COOP/DR. It houses 1.2 terabytes of electronic data on direct attached storage (DASD) and backup copies of customer documents on tape in fireproof enclosures. A single power source, a 275 KW Propane generator and a 100KVA redundant online UPS ensure reliable operation. Documents are preserved using an inergen gas-based fire suppression system and a dedicated redundant chiller. An air handler system is used for computer climate control. Security at the Cowen facility is multi-level; staff and escorted visitors use swipe cards for access to the building and keys and locks for the data center.
At the Rocket Center location, IMC maintains a dedicated, secure room with computers, scanners, storage and other equipment for converting, managing and storing classified documents, as well as rooms dedicated to the resources of single customers. The classified section is appropriate for up to Top Secret cleared operations and personnel. It holds 4.75 terabytes of data on DASD, and provides no outside communication access per classified security requirements. Document preservation is accomplished with wet sprinklers and the surrounding preservation measures of the building itself. Access is via swipe card to the building and a DSS approve door with a combination lock to the room.
